Ukraine Can Feed a Billion People

The share of Ukraine in the world food market is equal to the food of 400 million people, not counting Ukrainians. By the end of 2029, Ukraine will feed a billion people from all over the world

According to the Ministry of agrarian policy, the state is developing a plan to provide food to about 1 billion people by 2030.

"We are increasingly claiming the status of one of the world's largest guarantors of food security. 20 years ago, Ukraine "fed" only 400 million people worldwide. Today, Ukraine's contribution is equivalent to feeding about 400 million people, not counting our population. Our development strategy until 2030 provides for food for 1 billion people in the world," wrote minister of agrarian policy Roman Leshchenko.

In 2021, Ukrainian agriculture showed the highest jump in production — 14.4%.

"According to the year's results, the production of agricultural enterprises increased by 19.2%. As a result, agriculture last year gave the highest percentage of GDP among all sectors of the economy — more than 10%," Leshchenko.

On February 9, 2022, the government of Ukraine supported the decision to transfer all food functions to the Ministry of agrarian policy. The decision was made to create conditions for "further dynamic growth of the agricultural sector and meet strategic goals."
