On June 7, the Senate of Switzerland voted to adopt an amendment to the law on the re-export of weapons to countries involved in armed conflict. From now on, the buyer states of Swiss armaments and military equipment, under certain conditions, have the right to transfer it to countries where a war is being waged. This is reported by the website of the Senate.
Conditions for countries that will purchase weapons for transfer to warring countries: not to be involved in a war and not to violate human rights and freedoms. The countries allowed to export Swiss technology are those "given to the values of Switzerland", Germany, Italy, the USA and Hungary.
The decision was quite difficult for neutral Switzerland, as evidenced by the voting statistics: 22 in favour, 17 against, and 4 abstentions.
