Ukraine expects major demining equipment support in 2026

The Demining Capability Coalition is preparing funding and specialized machinery for combat and humanitarian mine action

Ukraine is preparing for a new phase of international mine action support. In 2026, the country is expected to receive specialized demining machinery and equipment worth 205 million euros, while the Demining Capability Coalition plans a separate fund of 95 million euros.

The work covers both combat and humanitarian demining. That distinction matters because Ukraine needs tools for military mobility, civilian safety, infrastructure repair and the return of agricultural land to productive use.

Coalition work expands

The latest coordination meeting took place in Lviv within the 22nd working group of the coalition. The Ukrainian delegation was led by Colonel Ruslan Berehulia, who is responsible for mine action, civil protection and environmental safety within the Defense Ministry system.

The meeting involved 13 states, NATO representation and international organizations working with equipment, training and field support. The coalition now includes 23 countries, giving Ukraine a wider network for procurement, technical expertise and long-term planning.

Partners may also attract another 142 million euros in 2027. For Ukraine, predictable financing is crucial because demining is not a one-season task. It requires machinery, trained crews, spare parts, mapping, data exchange and safe procedures across liberated and frontline-adjacent territories.
