Ukrainian developer salaries are rising again after a period of restraint

The median compensation for developers returned to three thousand five hundred dollars, while senior roles remain far ahead

IT compensation is stabilizing at a higher level

Ukrainian developer salaries are showing renewed growth after a long period of uneven pressure. According to the latest DOU survey, the median monthly compensation for developers in June 2026 reached three thousand five hundred dollars. That is the same level as in June 2024 and fifty dollars above December 2025, which suggests that the market has not returned to rapid boom conditions, but is gradually recovering pricing power for experienced technical labor.

More than half of developers reported a pay rise during the year, and almost a third received an increase over the past six months. The strongest upward movement was seen among specialists with up to nine years of experience, where the median reached about five thousand dollars. After that point, incomes tend to stabilize, which indicates that career growth increasingly depends on architecture, leadership, business ownership or rare technical specialization.

Experience, location and specialization define the market

Kyiv, Ternopil, Cherkasy and Lviv showed some of the highest median pay levels, while Mykolaiv and Sumy remained significantly lower. Product and outstaffing companies continue to pay the highest medians for senior specialists, while startups showed weaker dynamics in some senior categories. The highest-paid roles include System Architect, Staff and Principal engineers, technical leads and senior software engineers.

For investors, the data confirm that Ukraine’s IT sector remains a high-value labor market even under wartime conditions. Salaries in Ruby, Go, Python, Kotlin and Rust remain among the strongest, while junior and intern pay is also improving. This matters for product companies, outsourcing groups and defense-tech teams because the same pool of engineers supports commercial software, AI, cybersecurity and industrial digitalization.
