Ukraine expects NATO to develop a roadmap for Ukraine to implement an open-door policy

Ukraine is ready for a new step in relations with NATO and expects the North Atlantic Alliance to form a roadmap for the country to materialize an open door policy

This was stated by Olga Stefanishyna, deputy Prime-minister for European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine, during the forum "Ukraine 30. Country Security".

The deputy Prime-minister said that Ukraine and Georgia should receive answers to the questions outlined in the declaration of the Bucharest summit 13 years ago.

"Today we only have to bring this decision, made at the time, about the Euro-Atlantic perspective of Ukraine and Georgia, in line. It is important for us to feel the pulse of Ukraine and NATO and do everything possible to make them fight synchronously. Ukraine is a reliable partner in maintaining the security of the Black sea region and all eastern European countries", — has said Olga Stefanishina.

NATO is an alliance of Europe and North America. This provides the unique link between two continents, enabling them to consult and cooperate in the field of defense and security, as well as to conduct multinational crisis management operations together.

Ukraine is a long-standing and highly valued NATO partner.

The deputy prime minister stressed that the work on the implementation of strategic and national priorities in the field of security and defense, as well as on the acquisition of full membership in NATO is on a daily basis.

"We hope that in the near future this work will find a response in the decision-making process to invite Ukraine to the next stage of rapprochement with the alliance and to demonstrate political solidarity with the course for Ukraine", — has said the deputy Prime-minister.

Olga Stefanishyna also noted the adoption by the Verkhovna Rada of legislation on defense procurement and intelligence, as well as, in the first reading — the law on the reform of the security service of Ukraine.
