Ukraine Imported $3 Billion Worth of Cars: Germany, USA and China Lead Supplies

In the first seven months of 2025, 224,500 cars were imported to Ukraine — 17% more than last year, with Germany topping the list of suppliers

Import volumes keep growing

According to Ukravtoprom, from January to July 2025, Ukrainians imported 224,500 cars worth more than $3 billion. This is 17% more cars than in the same period last year, while the customs value of imports grew by 22%.

Both new and used cars continue to account for a large share of the Ukrainian car market, showing stable demand despite economic and wartime challenges.

Leading countries supplying cars to Ukraine

The top 10 countries that supplied cars to Ukraine in the first seven months of 2025 are:

  1. Germany – 49,963 cars

  2. USA – 39,320 cars

  3. China – 22,835 cars

  4. Japan – 20,257 cars

  5. South Korea – 14,491 cars

  6. France – 14,399 cars

  7. Czech Republic – 11,188 cars

  8. United Kingdom – 10,312 cars

  9. Mexico – 9,149 cars

  10. Romania – 5,782 cars

Germany remains the largest supplier, almost doubling the volumes of the USA, while China and Japan continue to strengthen their positions thanks to affordable models and hybrids.

Why imports are increasing

  • High demand for affordable used cars from Germany and the USA.

  • Growing popularity of Chinese brands, especially electric vehicles.

  • Diversification of supply due to logistical risks and global market shifts.

  • Stable consumer demand in Ukraine despite inflationary pressures.

Bottom line: With over $3 billion spent on car imports in just seven months, Ukraine shows strong and growing demand for foreign vehicles. Germany, the USA and China dominate the market, while Asian suppliers continue expanding their presence.
