Ukraine Increases Grain Exports by 85% to 4.4 Million Tons Since Start of 2024/2025 Marketing Year

Since the beginning of the 2024/2025 marketing year (July 2024 – June 2025), Ukraine has significantly increased its grain exports, reaching a total of 4.356 million tons as of August 7

This marks an 85% increase, or 2 million tons more, compared to the same period in the previous marketing year.

Breakdown of Grain Exports

According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, the exports include:

  • Wheat: 1.938 million tons
  • Barley: 661,000 tons
  • Rye: 0.3 thousand tons
  • Corn: 1.740 million tons

Decrease in Flour Exports

Despite the overall increase in grain exports, the export of wheat flour and flour from other crops has decreased significantly. The export volume of wheat flour and other crop flour dropped by 61%, or 12 thousand tons, down to 7.6 thousand tons during the specified period.

Previous Marketing Year Performance

In the 2023/2024 marketing year, Ukraine exported a total of 50.8 million tons of grain. This figure represents a 3.2% increase, or 1.59 million tons more, compared to the previous marketing year.

Conclusion

The substantial increase in grain exports showcases Ukraine's robust agricultural production and its pivotal role in the global grain market. However, the notable decrease in flour exports indicates potential challenges or shifts in processing and export dynamics that may need to be addressed to maintain a balanced agricultural export portfolio.
