33 million tons of wheat were harvested, a record for history. This is 26% more than last year and exceeded previous forecasts by the Ministry of agrarian policy and food of Ukraine.
To ensure food security, avoid the application of export restrictions, ensure the projected grain export regime and stabilize the grain market in Ukraine, a Memorandum of understanding was signed on July 5, 2021 between the Ministry of agrarian policy and food of Ukraine and grain market participants in the 2021/2022 marketing year.
In addition to the Memorandum with grain market participants, an Annex was signed on October 19, 2021, which sets the maximum export volumes of wheat at 25,3 million tons.
"There is no increased export of wheat — this is a myth. Within the framework of the Memorandum, we have established a joint strategy to ensure the projected regime of grain exports, which guarantees the food security of the state. It has proved its effectiveness in previous years, as it provides predictability to all participants in the agricultural market, constant market monitoring ensures predictability of grain exports and market stability within the country," said Taras Vysotsky, deputy minister of economy, trade, and agriculture of Ukraine.
