Ukraine’s labor market in 2026 is showing a clear shift toward production, construction and technical jobs. According to OLX Work data, employer demand for packers in production and working specialties rose almost tenfold compared with the previous year.
The strongest growth is concentrated in roles that keep factories, warehouses, construction sites and infrastructure projects moving. Demand also increased for assemblers, helpers, designers and excavator operators. In construction, vacancies for electricians, general workers, bricklayers, installers, plumbers and site supervisors also became more active.
Practical skills are becoming scarce
The trend reflects a broader wartime labor problem. Businesses need people who can assemble, repair, move, build and maintain physical systems, while part of the workforce remains displaced, mobilized or outside the country. That creates pressure on salaries in some blue collar categories and forces employers to compete for practical skills.
Retail also shows demand for supervisors and merchandisers, while IT still has open vacancies. But the contrast with advertising, design and PR is sharp: in several communication roles, the number of employer listings has fallen significantly, even as competition among candidates remains high.
OLX Work head Maria Abdullina notes that business needs often do not match candidate preferences. This mismatch is becoming one of the main features of the labor market: companies need operational staff, while many applicants look toward office, creative or digital positions.
For Ukraine, the answer is not only more vacancies. It is retraining, faster vocational education and better regional employment links. The economy will need both engineers and workers able to install cables, operate machinery, build housing and maintain infrastructure.
