National Geoportal for Urban Planning Goes Live
The Ukrainian government has officially launched the Geoportal of the Urban Planning Cadastre (MPC) — a centralized electronic platform providing up-to-date urban planning documentation across all communities. According to the State Inspectorate of Architecture and Urban Planning (DIAM), the system is designed to streamline restoration projects, enhance transparency, and minimize the risk of errors, loss, or data manipulation.
A Unified Database for Development Projects
The MPC consolidates information on planning, development, and land use into a single national database. This integration will:
-
Accelerate project implementation by providing instant access to relevant documentation.
-
Increase transparency in decision-making and approval processes.
-
Reduce risks associated with outdated, incomplete, or falsified records.
Access for Professionals and Citizens
-
Authorities, architects, engineers, and urban planning experts can now work with official documentation online, reducing bureaucratic delays.
-
Citizens will have the ability to view information about planning, approval, and public discussions related to their communities.
Enhanced Oversight by DIAM
Previously, DIAM inspectors had to request documents from local authorities, slowing down oversight. Now, with real-time access to MPC data, they can:
-
Quickly verify compliance with legal standards.
-
Identify irregularities at an early stage.
-
Take timely corrective measures.
This launch marks a significant step in Ukraine’s post-war digital transformation of urban planning and is expected to support both reconstruction efforts and long-term sustainable development.
