Twenty importers operated in May, up from 15 in April.
-
Leading refineries: PCK Schwedt (Germany) – 1 350 t to UPG, and Orlen S.A. (Poland & Lithuania) – 1 330 t to multiple buyers.
Why demand jumped
-
Bio-ethanol mandate: Since 1 May, Ukrainian law requires ethanol blending in standard gasoline; A-98/100 grades are exempt.
-
Consumer preference: Some motorists shifted to high-octane fuel to avoid alcohol-blended petrol, triggering shortages at several UPG stations and spurring new sales at OKKO, Ukrnafta, and VostokGaz.
Market backdrop
Despite the premium-fuel surge, average retail prices for gasoline, diesel and LPG eased in May, with diesel down roughly ₴1 per litre.
