Ukraine Received More Than €100 Bln From NATO

Stoltenberg: "Supporting Ukraine is not only the morally right thing to do. It is also in our own security interest"

On March 1, the SAMAK Nordic Summit took place in Helsinki. Jens Stoltenberg reported that during Russia's war against Ukraine, 30 NATO countries accumulated more than €100 billion in aid for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Soon there will be 2 more countries in NATO, which, together with the EU and 54 UDCG members, invest in the security of Ukraine.

"So supporting Ukraine is not only the morally right thing to do. It is also in our own security interest. We do not know when this war will end. But when it does, we must ensure that history does not repeat itself. President Putin cannot continue to chip away at European security. We must break the cycle of Russian aggression," Jens Stoltenberg.

The secretary emphasized that the brutality of the Russian war against Ukraine is shocking, but not surprising since this criminal way of waging war is traditional for Russia.

"This is part of a pattern of Russian aggression over many years. In Grozny. In Georgia. In Aleppo. In Crimea and Donbas. And now, a full-fledged invasion of Ukraine."

Stoltenberg added that this war brought not only pain but also a lesson for the world: "We must give Ukraine what they need to prevail."
