Ukraine Released 44 km² in Bakhmut Direction

The highest Russian resistance is observed in the north of the region

On August 28, deputy minister of defence of Ukraine Anna Malyar reported that over the past 7 days, the Armed Forces of Ukraine had liberated 1 km² of Ukrainian territories in the direction of the city of Bakhmut, Donetsk region. In total, 44 km² were liberated during the counteroffensive.

"Along the Bakhmut direction it resembles a horseshoe around Bakhmut. And the dominant heights that are occupied, go a little to the southern and northern flanks and look like a semicircle. Along the northern flank the enemy is attacking there: they want to take back from us what we liberated there," Anna Malyar.

The Russians had dug kilometers of trenches, littered the area with anti-tank "teeth" and mines. Difficult, but the counteroffensive continues.

"And in the areas of Orekhovo-Vasulyvka the enemy is also resisting very powerfully there. But we are advancing there."
