A little more than a year has passed since the Kyiv region was liberated from the Russian invaders. The destroyers from the Russian Federation left cities without hospitals, schools, and roads. But the Ukrainian authorities are not expecting an end to the war and are already doing everything possible to reduce the impact of the Russian invasion on people’s lives.
Thus, in Makariv, Kyiv region, a new project was implemented — an outpatient clinic for people of all ages. The village of Makariv is 40 km from the capital. It was captured on the 3rd day of the war, after the Russian army there are almost no whole buildings in it. But as the locals stayed there, recovery began, and the need for a hospital was huge. So, the priority project – an innovative outpatient clinic – was implemented during the year. In the newly liberated city, there is now a hospital designed for 16.000 people. Local residents can get advice and assistance from all doctors. Donors and investors were involved in the construction of the facility.
In addition, Ukraine has resumed communication between Kyiv and the Chernihiv region. In 2022, the occupiers destroyed a bridge across the Desna river, connecting the 2 regions. In 2023 Ukraine completed the restoration of the road and a half-kilometre bridge. Now you can get from Kyiv to Chernihiv in 2 hours, having covered a distance of 145 km. We remind you that on February 25, 2022, an engineer of a separate battalion, sailor Vitaly Skakun, sacrificed himself in order to prevent the enemy from advancing along the Crimean Isthmus to the Kherson region. He blew up the bridge knowing that he would not have time to leave it. We keep Vitaly and gratitude to him in our hearts.
Also in other areas, work is continuing to rehabilitate infrastructure and people’s lives. In the Poltava and Dnipro regions, pyrotechnics have completed the demining of territories.
