Ukrainian Blowed Up the Bridge Together with Himself to Stop Russian Tanks

On February 25, an engineer from a separate battalion of the Ukrainian marines deliberately exploded along with the bridge in order to stop the advance of a Russian tank column into Ukraine

On February 24, Russian invaders rushed to Ukraine through the east, south and north of the country. At the same time, explosions and sabotage, attacks on strategic facilities and airports sounded throughout the country.

On February 25, a special marine infantry battalion led the defense from the Crimean side. In order not to let the enemy through the Crimean Isthmus, it was decided to blow up the Genichesk automobile bridge.

"The engineer of a separate battalion, sailor Skakun Vitalyy Volodymyrovuch, volunteered to complete this task. The bridge was mined, but he did not have time to move out of there. According to his brothers, Vitaly got in touch and reported that he was blowing up the bridge. An explosion immediately rang out. Our colleague died," reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

A posthumous Hero of Ukraine, Vitalii Skakun, slowed down the advance of the Russian nazis into Ukraine, saved millions of Ukrainian lives, and bought time for his unit to redeploy and organize defense.
