Ukraine Severed Diplomatic Relations With North Korea

In response to the recognition by North Korea of the independence of the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, the so-called DPR/LPR, Ukraine closes the diplomatic bridge with this country

On July 13, Russia announced the recognition of the so-called Donetsk/Luhansk People's Republics by the DPRK.

"The Ministry of foreign affairs of Ukraine strongly condemns the decision of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to recognize the so-called "independence" of the territories temporarily occupied by the Russian Federation in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine," speaker of the Ministry of foreign affairs of Ukraine Oleh Nikolenko.

Pyongyang's decision to recognize the independence of the occupied territories of Ukraine is an act of undermining the sovereignty and the Constitution of Ukraine, the UN Charter and fundamental norms and principles of international law.

"The recognition by the North Korean regime of the "subjectivity" of the Russian occupation regimes in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions is negligible, will not have legal consequences and will not change the internationally recognized borders of Ukraine," Oleh Nikolenko.

At the same time, one must understand that this situation testifies not only to the position of the already isolated North Korea, but also to the sad fate of Russia. As stated in the Ukrainian Ministry, our state did not cooperate with Pyongyang anyway, since this state is officially a sponsor of terrorism.

"Russia's appeal to the DPRK for support in legitimizing the forcible seizure of part of Ukrainian territory speaks more about the toxicity of Moscow than Pyongyang. Russia has no more allies in the world, except for countries that depend on it financially and politically, and the level of isolation of the Russian Federation will soon reach the level of isolation North Korea. Ukraine will continue to react as harshly as possible to encroachments on its sovereignty and territorial integrity," Dmytro Kuleba.
