Ukraine’s trade with top partners reaches almost 67 billion dollars

Imports still dominate, while the EU remains the strongest destination for Ukrainian exports

Ukraine’s goods trade with its 50 largest partners reached about 66.97 billion dollars in January-June 2026, according to calculations by Experts Club based on foreign trade data. Imports from this group amounted to 47.35 billion dollars, while Ukrainian exports totaled 19.62 billion dollars.

The balance remains sharply negative: the deficit with the top 50 partners reached 27.73 billion dollars. In practical terms, imports accounted for about 70.7% of turnover, while exports covered only 41.4% of imports. For investors, this structure shows both pressure on the trade balance and continuing demand for industrial equipment, technology, vehicles, electronics and recovery-related goods.

China, the EU and concentrated trade flows

China remained Ukraine’s largest trading partner, with turnover of 14.68 billion dollars. The gap is substantial: imports from China reached 13.9 billion dollars, while Ukrainian exports to China were 778.4 million dollars. This direction alone formed nearly half of the total deficit with the top 50 partners.

Poland ranked second with 7.05 billion dollars in turnover and at the same time became the largest single market for Ukrainian exports. Turkey, Germany and the United States completed the top five. Together, these five countries generated 51% of Ukraine’s turnover with the top 50 partners, confirming how sensitive trade is to logistics, policy and demand in a limited number of markets.

The European Union remains the core export space for Ukrainian companies. Twenty EU countries in the ranking accounted for about 32.61 billion dollars in turnover, including more than 60% of Ukrainian exports within the top 50 group. Poland, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain are not only buyers but also channels for industrial cooperation, transit and technology supply.

The figures point to a strategic task: Ukraine needs not just larger export volumes, but a broader offer with higher added value. Food processing, machinery, cables, components, defense-related production and technology exports can gradually reduce dependence on raw materials and make trade more resilient to logistics and geopolitical shocks.
