The Ukrainian army defends the sky over the peaceful population of the country. But the Russian Federation invents all new threats: old missiles (partly Ukrainian), Shaheds, etc. Therefore, politicians, including Ukraine's president, seek military support in other countries. Recently Volodymyr Zelenskyy appealed to France and Italy to obtain the Mamba air defence system.
The French side immediately agreed to approve the request, but it was necessary to coordinate with Italy. On December 14, Challenges reported that the 2 countries had agreed to supply Ukraine with weapons. The Franco-Italian air defence system Mamba will be installed to protect the Ukrainian territories in an area of 3 to 100 km. The complex is capable of striking aircraft and a wide class of other air targets. The defence system is also used to protect stationary objects. The Mamba is capable of stopping the target at an altitude of 25 km. This defence weapon is available to manufacturers: in France and Italy, also in Singapore.
French ambassador to Ukraine Etienne de Poncins confirmed that the Franco-Italian system would be transferred to protect against the occupiers. The number of systems is not disclosed.
"France and Italy will provide Ukraine with the requested air defence... This is a very persistent request from president Zelenskyy, and the Italians have confirmed to us that they are ready to comply with it. So we can meet their needs," the ambassador said.
