Ukraine advances veterinary and phytosanitary cooperation with key partners

Meetings with France, Canada and the United Kingdom focused on certificates, export access and specialist training

Ukraine used the WOAH General Session to advance practical cooperation in veterinary and phytosanitary control with international partners. The talks covered certification, market access, food safety and training for Ukrainian specialists.

Such work is technical, but it directly affects exports. Without agreed certificates and recognized control procedures, even competitive agricultural products can face barriers at the border.

Certificates and market access

With France, Ukraine discussed sanitary and phytosanitary cooperation and already agreed certificate forms for imports into Ukraine, including breeding animals, reproductive material, feed and animal-origin products.

With Canada, the agenda included bilateral trade and new export directions from Ukraine, including composite products, poultry processing products, sunflower oil, live fish, fish products and pet food. Opening the Canadian market for Ukrainian wheat, soybeans, corn and rapeseed is also part of the work.

With the United Kingdom, cooperation continues on veterinary and phytosanitary control, including many certificate forms for both export and import. A separate track concerns veterinary medicines regulation and new training opportunities for Ukrainian experts.

For Ukrainian agribusiness, these agreements are part of export infrastructure. They help convert product quality into real market access and reduce uncertainty for companies planning international sales.
