Ukraine’s Dairy Exports Soar 51% Amid Aggressive Expansion into Foreign Markets

Quarterly data signals shift toward export-driven production as processors boost milk purchasing

Ukraine’s dairy industry is rapidly pivoting to an export-led growth model, with outbound shipments of dairy products rising 51.4% y/y to 327,000 tons in January–June 2025. Exports of milk-containing goods grew 35.8% to 410,000 tons, according to the Union of Dairy Enterprises (UMDU).

Analysts highlight a steady increase in the share of domestically processed milk being channelled into export products. In the first quarter, exports accounted for 19.3% of milk processed; by Q2, this climbed to 25.9%, meaning nearly a quarter of Ukraine’s milk supply is now being transformed into products for foreign buyers.

Industry players credit the export surge to sustained purchasing by dairy processors, who are simultaneously meeting domestic demand and capitalising on available channels in international markets.

Investment Signal:
The trend points to growing scale, efficiency and resilience within Ukraine’s dairy-processing segment — indicating potential for foreign investment in milk sourcing, processing capacity and export logistics as the sector evolves into a net foreign-currency earner.
