As of October 15, Ukraine's natural gas reserves have exceeded 12.8 billion cubic meters, according to data from ExPro. The country is steadily progressing toward its planned target of 13.2 billion cubic meters of gas in storage by November 1, ensuring sufficient energy supplies for the upcoming winter season.
Record Levels of Gas Injection
In the first week of October, the volume of natural gas injected into Ukraine's underground storage facilities reached a peak of 32.8 million cubic meters per day. Domestic gas production contributes approximately 11 million cubic meters per day, all of which is being directed into storage facilities.
Purchases from Europe
NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine is actively purchasing natural gas from European suppliers. All imported gas is being injected into the "customs warehouse" regime, bolstering the country's energy reserves and providing flexibility for future use.
Gas Re-exports Stabilize
Gas re-exports from Ukrainian terminals have stabilized at around 1.1 million cubic meters per day, which is significantly lower than import volumes. This indicates a strategic focus on retaining gas supplies within the country to meet domestic demand.
On Track to Meet Winter Goals
To ensure the continuation of the injection season and stable procurement for Naftogaz, reaching the routine plan of 13.2 billion cubic meters in storage by November 1 is considered realistic. The accumulation of resources ahead of winter is proceeding according to plan, providing an essential "energy cushion" for the colder months.
