Ukraine’s Shipping Administration Partners with Denmark’s Terma A/S on Maritime Security

New cooperation will strengthen underwater threat detection, vessel traffic management, and hydrographic capabilities

The Shipping Administration will cooperate with Denmark in the field of maritime security

Ukraine’s Shipping Administration has announced plans to deepen cooperation with Denmark-based defense and technology firm Terma A/S. This initiative is aimed at enhancing Ukraine’s maritime security infrastructure amid growing threats to the Black Sea and coastal regions.

The announcement was made by Mykola Kravchuk, head of the Shipping Administration, following a series of meetings with representatives of Rasmussen Global — a strategic advisory firm founded by former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen.

🔍 Focus of Cooperation

The cooperation will explore the civilian applications of Terma A/S technologies to:

  • Detect threats in the underwater environment

  • Improve vessel traffic management systems

  • Expand hydrographic survey capabilities

“Strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities is a priority,” Kravchuk emphasized. “We will continue to study Terma’s technologies to enhance the operational efficiency of our maritime infrastructure.”

🤝 Strategic Partnership

Terma A/S is one of Europe’s leading manufacturers in the high-tech defense and security sector, known for developing advanced radar systems, surveillance solutions, and aerospace technologies.

Rasmussen Global, which facilitated the discussions, is a Brussels and Copenhagen-based consulting firm focused on security policy, energy, and strategic infrastructure, and plays a key role in advising Ukraine on its maritime strategy.

🌊 Background: Broader Ukraine–Denmark Maritime Ties

This cooperation builds on previous talks between Ukraine and Denmark held in March 2025, covering a wide range of maritime issues, including:

  • Port reconstruction and modernization

  • Shipbuilding and fleet renewal

  • Marine demining and research

  • Job creation in coastal regions

This partnership with Terma A/S signals Ukraine’s ongoing efforts to integrate Western technologies into its maritime operations and build resilience in the Black Sea region, which remains critical for national security and trade.
