“In response to the challenges of the pandemic, in 2020 we have developed an Anti-crisis program for the reopening of Boryspil airport. And the latest results confirm that the path we have chosen is the right one. According to the ACI Europe report, which included 341 of Europe’s largest airports, we are ahead of a number of major airports, including the airports of Vienna, Rome, Lisbon, Athens, Munich, Barcelona, Brussels, Stockholm, Zurich, Milan and Warsaw. The report, released in June, presents data on passenger traffic. Within 4 months of 2021, Borispol airport reached 14th place in Europe and entered the Top-15 for the first time in history. This result was made possible thanks to the coordinated work of all divisions of the airport to develop the aviation network and restore passenger traffic," said Volodymyr Zhmak, chairman of the supervisory board of Boryspil International Airport.
According to the resource Center of transport technologies, by May of this year, Boryspil brought 60% of flights to the standard flow, compared with 2019.
“At the same time, as of May of this year, the Eurocontrol member countries resumed only 39% compared to 2019. Therefore, the Boryspil airport is recovering one and a half times faster. Now we expect full restoration of air traffic with the EU countries for active growth in passenger traffic," added Zhmak.
