The Game Awards is like an Oscar for the cybersphere. This year amount of people who came to the ceremony exceeded Oscar’s by 8 times. It was held on the 10th of December. There were several categories, and Ukrainian cyber sportsmen received the prizes. NaVi was considered the best team, and its leader became the best esports PC player of the year.
For the title of Best cybersports team with Ukrainians, there were competing four other bands:
- Atlanta Faze — American team for Call of duty league;
- DWG KIA — South Korean team for League of legends;
- Team Spirit is a Russian team with Ukrainian legionnaires playing Dota 2 (the team won the international competitions in 2021, winning $18 million);
- The International competition is an American team playing in several disciplines.
The best cyber sporting event was the 2021 League of Legends World Championships.
NaVi had previously won the PGL Major Stockholm 2021 tournament held in Sweden on 26 October. The tournament’s prize fund was $2 million, and the winning team received one million dollars. It was the first event in the major series on Counter-Strike: Global Offensive since September 2019, when Valve and the PGL Cyber League could not host a tournament of this scale due to coronavirus restrictions.
Earlier this year, NaVi won CS: GO's blast premier: Global Final 2020 and earned $600.000. The bright victory of the Ukrainian Professional Esports Association Club did not leave out the attention of the people’s deputy of Ukraine, Danylo Hetmantsev. In his Telegram channel, he congratulated NaVi on the tournament.
