Ukrainian Demand for Electric Cars Continues to Grow

From the beginning of 2022, 28% more e-cars were imported into Ukraine than in the same period in 2021

The boom in electric cars started in Ukraine in 2018. This is not surprising because Ukraine has a young, open-to-everything-new population, as well as minimal taxes on the export of electric cars. With the adoption of a new law on the abolition of taxes to the introduction and registration of an e-vehicle in Ukraine, the cost of exporting such a car has decreased from 570 to 120. The number of electric cars imported to Ukraine is growing every year.

Since the beginning of 2022, Ukrainians have exported 11.700 electric cars, which is 28% more than the previous year. Nissan Leaf became the leader in Ukrainian preferences — 2.154 vehicles. In 2nd place — Volkswagen ID.4 — 1.142 cars. 3rd — 784 Teslas. By the way, last year, Tesla was in 2nd place.

With the start of a full-scale invasion, the export of electric cars fell from 830 cars per month to 195. However, in April, the pace of purchases of Nissans and Teslas increased, and in August they almost doubled and reached 1.540. From the time of the first manifestation of electric car fans in Ukraine until today, the intensity of demand for green cars increased by 58%.
