Honduras plans to purchase Ukrainian drones to strengthen border security and support the fight against drug trafficking. The issue was discussed during the visit of Honduran President Nasry Asfura to Kyiv, where he met with President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The expected focus is not heavy battlefield use, but surveillance, patrol support and rapid detection in remote areas. For Honduras, unmanned systems can help monitor difficult terrain, identify suspicious movement and improve the response of border and security units.
Why Honduras is interested
The country is located on an important drug transit route. Authorities are also concerned about local cultivation, hidden laboratories and violence linked to organized crime.
