From 2 to 12 August, an international film festival was held in Locarno, Switzerland. This is one of the most prestigious film festivals where you can get 4 leopards: for the best film, directing, acting and acting. This year, the Ukrainian film Stepne received one of the golden leopards. The film won the award for best directing.
"The film is a cinematic masterpiece that leaves an indelible imprint on the psyche. Stepne with deep meaning, despite the minimalistic plot," noted the organisers of the international festival Locarno.
The film chief Maryna Vroda took the stage behind the statuette. She told about the workers of the stage and cinema, who are now at the front and said, "Glory to Ukraine."
"Glory to the heroes," answered Romanian director Radu Jude from the audience.
The Ukrainian film Stepne tells about life in the post-Soviet world. The plot is based on a man who moved from a big city to a village to take care of his mother. Before his death, the protagonist's mother tells him about a mysterious treasure that he will now need to find.
