On February 3, the Ukraine-EU summit was successfully held in Kyiv. This summit had several goals: to clarify joint plans and results. First of all, Ukraine had to report on the homework for joining the EU — 7 recommendations, the implementation of which is an obligatory condition for European integration.
According to the words of Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the representatives of the European Union spoke favourably of Ukraine's progress on the way to fulfilling the set conditions. 72% of the recommendations were implemented immediately, which became the basis for a joint written statement regarding the fastest negotiations on Ukraine's further accession to the European Union. Subject to positive responses from the European Commission and the European Council, negotiations will begin this year.
Another achievement was the adoption of Ukraine's integration into the common economic space of the European Union.
"One of the important achievements of the summit was progress in the issue of Ukraine's integration into the internal market of the European Union. We adopted a plan of priority actions for 2023-2024. Its implementation will make Ukraine a de facto member of the European Union at the level of economic sectors — industry, agricultural sector, energy, digital services, transport, the financial sphere, customs," Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
We remind you that Ukraine signed an application for EU accession on February 28, 2022, and received the status of a candidate for EU accession on June 23, 2022.
