Ukrainian-Made GART 5100 Demining Machine Gets Green Light for Mass Production

Remote-controlled “heavy” complex neutralizes mines, clears up to 2 hectares per day, and is built entirely in Ukraine.

Ukraine has certified its first heavy, remotely operated humanitarian demining complex, the GART 5100, opening the way for series production in 2025. The State Research Institute for Testing and Certification of Armaments and Military Equipment issued the approval after the machine successfully met all safety and performance benchmarks.

Why the GART 5100 matters

  • Made in Ukraine: Engineering, fabrication, and assembly are handled by Kyiv-based XTI Engineering, ensuring rapid logistics, spare-parts availability, and domestic job creation.

  • Certified for humanitarian work: The new certificate allows the machine to operate in civilian fields, forests, and infrastructure zones littered with mines and unexploded ordnance.

  • Supports national clearance goals: Ukraine faces an estimated 174,000 km² of contaminated land; high-output machines are essential for meeting international safety standards and accelerating recovery.

Key performance specs

  • Clearance rate: Up to 2 ha per light day (roughly 1.5 km/h working speed).

  • Working depth: 300 mm via interchangeable flail or milling attachments.

  • Remote control range: 600 m standard; over 1 km with a repeater.

  • Neutralization method: Chain hammers or milling cutters detonate or shred anti-tank and anti-personnel mines.

  • Camera suite: Multi-angle wide-view optics give operators full situational awareness from a safe distance.

Operational advantages

  1. Operator safety: Full remote control eliminates exposure to blast fragments and secondary explosions.

  2. Adaptable tooling: Quick-swap implements allow crews to match soil conditions—loam, sand, or rocky terrain—and mission profiles.

  3. Rapid maintenance: Domestic production shortens repair cycles and reduces costs compared with imported systems.

Next steps

XTI Engineering plans to scale production throughout 2025 with support from the Ministry of Defense and international donors focused on Ukraine’s humanitarian mine-action goals. Fielding multiple GART 5100 units will boost daily clearance capacity, opening farmland, utilities, and transport corridors that drive economic recovery.
