Ukrainian Parents Obliged to Evacuate Their Children

On March 7, the cabinet of ministers of Ukraine adopted a decision on the evacuation of children from hot spots in the country

Ukraine has decided to evacuate children from the combat zone. According to the document adopted by the cabinet of ministers of Ukraine, such decisions will be taken by the regions' military administrations and command bodies. The members of the coordination headquarters for the mandatory evacuation of the population will also address the issue. It is noted that the state will remove children from dangerous places in the country accompanied by parents, guardians, a person who officially replaces them or another legal representative. We remind you that a heart attack killed a 6-year-old girl from the Donetsk region in January.

Already now, there is the first area that falls under mandatory evacuation – the Donetsk region, Bahmut. Vice prime minister of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk reports that no more than 4.000 people are left in the city, of which 38 are children.

"The state must protect the life and health of the child. If adults cannot care about the safety of children, it should be done by the state," said Iryna Vereshchuk about the reason for such a decision.

From 24 February 2022 to 15 February 2023, the Russian army in Ukraine killed 487 children and injured 954. Several generations of Ukrainians are permanently traumatized.
