In Ivano-Frankivsk, a city in the West of Ukraine, a GPS monitoring system based on the Ministry of emergencies for a particular purpose. The Ukrainian-Romanian joint operations program introduced the project in 2014-2020. The GPS monitoring system is an innovative system whose primary objective is to provide access to information on the location of tourists and search and rescue teams and to the distress signals sent by tourists for assistance. Which is very important in mountainous conditions in the absence of mobile operators. The project includes monitoring the movement of independent tourists and tourist groups traveling in mountainous areas. Also, the project aims to improve the unit management system for search and rescue activities through real-time tracking of the current location of search and rescue teams and their movements. The GPS monitoring system consists of a hardware and software complex for the operational management of assets. The program also includes an automated method of reception and processing emergency reports from tourists and an automated system of registration of tourist groups and mobile application on OS Android and iOS Rescue in the mountains.
The mobile application is intended for transmitting SOS signals with geographical coordinates in case of emergency events in mountainous areas. The application’s functionality allows verified users in difficult mountain situations to send by one click to the mountain search and rescue service emergency messages with precise coordinates of the accident location. The application is currently running in test mode. Everyone can download it in the Play Market.
