Ukrainian Schools to Receive Electronic Security Passports, Announces PM Shmyhal

The Government of Ukraine is introducing electronic security passports for every educational institution to enhance the safety of the educational environment. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced the initiative during a recent government meeting

Access for Law Enforcement and Emergency Services

According to Shmyhal, law enforcement officers and employees of the State Emergency Service will have access to these electronic passports. This measure aims to improve coordination and address existing safety issues within schools.

"The educational solution is the creation of an electronic security passport of an educational institution. Each of our schools should have such a passport, because for us, the safety of children is a primary issue," said Shmyhal.

He added:

"This will contribute to the formation of a safer educational environment and the correction of existing problems in educational institutions."

Enhancing Safety Measures in Schools

The electronic security passports are expected to:

  • Provide detailed safety information for each school
  • Improve response times for law enforcement and emergency services
  • Identify and rectify safety shortcomings within educational facilities

Upcoming Educational Reforms

Reminder: Starting in 2027, high school students in Ukraine will be able to independently shape their educational paths by selecting study profiles and subjects according to their interests. A pilot launch of this reform is scheduled for 2025.
