Ukrainian Scientists Developed a Drug for the Militaries

Lviv scientists handed to the front a blood-stopping agent that saves the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the battlefield

Representatives of the Lviv national medical university, named after Danylo Halytskyi, began the development of the drug in 2014 when Russia's war against Ukraine had a local character. Since February 24, 2022, the need for such a blood-stopping drug has become several times higher. On the front will not help the simplest means, for example, hydrogen peroxide. So scientists have created a drug that's even faster than foreign counterparts.

Rostyslav Bilyy, professor of histology, cytology, and embryology, Maksym Lutsyk, and Rostyslav Stoiko created a project of hemostatic and obtained a patent for it in 2016. However, at that time, there were many foreign drugs in Ukraine. In 2022, the project received a sponsor, the top manager of Dr Sandor Vari, a major American medical centre. And Ukrainian scientists managed to replicate the project, but with some changes. The Blood Clotting Activator, by some indicators, was better than the well-known Celox (United Kingdom) drug. The test results showed that the time of clotting after the use of the Ukrainian drug is twice (sometimes 3 times) shorter than other means.

Ukrainian drug is released in the form of powder. 10 grams is enough to make 100 ml of blood a thick gel — "cork" for a bleeding wound.

Currently, scientists do not import the drug but create it for the Ukrainian army. It is noted that volunteers buy the blood-stopping agent very quickly.
