Ukrainian Won Advertising Prize “ADC Annual Awards”

"Bickerstaff.789" agency branded the Ukrainian Cossacks island Khortitsa and got the victory in New York

This year representatives of Ukraine, Bickerstaff.789 team, joined the winners of ADC Annual Awards: Paul Rand, Andy Warhol, Eni Leibowitz, and Stefan Zagmeister. This is the first victory of Ukraine in the history of participation in the competition of agencies for the development of brands. The jury noted the work on the branding of Khortytsia – the Ukrainian island on the Dnipro river, Zaporizhzhia region.

Although the island is the historical land of the Cossacks, the brand developers decided not to use the Cossack theme. Designers have developed a modern design and added folklore notes to it. On a black background, there are 18 characters "X." Bickerstaff.789 says that this symbol means "secrets" – they enveloped the entire island. Also, "X" is the first letter of the island's name in Ukrainian. Each letter has its colour and appearance, symbolising the island's unique features: unique nature, historical past, and rare animals.

This project was commissioned by the Ministry of culture of Ukraine

Khortitsa branding also won in the design category at the Cannes Lions creativity festival.
