Ukrnafta has signed a memorandum of understanding with Japanese engineering corporation Mayekawa to modernize production facilities. The partnership is intended to bring international industrial expertise into Ukraine’s largest oil producer.
The companies will work on energy efficiency and decarbonization. Mayekawa develops industrial refrigeration equipment, process compressors, cooling systems and heat pumps, including large engineering solutions for oil and gas facilities.
Modern equipment for continuous operations
For Ukrnafta, the cooperation can support more efficient temperature control, compression and heat recovery across production sites. These systems affect energy consumption, equipment reliability and the cost of maintaining uninterrupted operations.
The project is part of a broader automation program. Ukrnafta has already installed 112 automatic reagent-dosing systems designed to protect wells and underground infrastructure continuously while improving process control.
Japanese engineering does not replace local capacity; it can help Ukrainian teams upgrade existing assets and adopt proven industrial standards. The practical result will depend on the projects selected after the memorandum and the speed of equipment deployment.
