UN to Evacuate Ukrainians From Occupier-Controlled Kherson

The invaders do not allow the Ukrainians to evacuate from the flooded settlements and shoot the local population

On June 8, were held negotiations between foreign minister Dmytro Kuleba and the UN system coordinator in Ukraine, Denise Brown. The Ukrainian side provides the UN with security guarantees for work in the flood zone in the Kherson region, in turn, the UN sends a mission to evacuate the flooded Ukrainians in Kherson in the territories temporarily controlled by the Russian invaders. We remind you that about 25.000 Ukrainians are in the flooded territory of the Kherson region without the possibility of evacuation: the Russians have taken away all swimming equipment from the local population and are shooting those who try to evacuate on their own.

"It was agreed that the UN will immediately form groups in Zaporizhzhia and Kherson, which will be sent to the affected occupied territories of the left bank (of Dnipro — ed.) to provide humanitarian assistance and evacuate people while ensuring safe passage to the occupied territories from the territory controlled by the government of Ukraine," the Ministry of foreign affairs of Ukraine.

Now the UN expects from the Russian side guarantees of security and access to the territories of Kherson affected by the flood. Oleshki town: flooded on 90%. Many settlements have completely gone underwater.

In the territories of Kherson, controlled by Ukraine, 5 deaths from drowning were registered due to the explosion of the Kakhovka dam. Another 13 people are missing. In the territories temporarily occupied by Russia, the number of drowned Ukrainians is in the hundreds. Some of them were shot dead by the invaders.
