UNESCO Establishes Recovery Support Office in Ukraine

UNESCO has established a Recovery Support Office in Ukraine under the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy (ICIP), aimed at restoring cultural heritage and infrastructure affected by the Russian invasion

    • Communication Improvement: Enhance communication regarding the restoration of the cultural sector both nationally and internationally.
    • Impact Assessment: Provide methods for assessing the impact of the Russian invasion on the cultural sector.
    • Technical Assistance: Support ICIP in integrating and providing technical assistance to achieve sustainable development goals in Ukraine.
    • Thematic Working Groups: Assist ICIP in co-chairing working groups within the cultural development Action Plan framework.
    • Strategic Proposals: Prepare strategies for building the capacity of cultural and educational institutions, human capital, and the gradual restoration of cultural services.
    • Legal Advice: Offer legal advice and propose new or amended legal acts related to cultural restoration.
    • Media Cooperation: Work with ICIP and media to develop and disseminate effective messages about cultural restoration and development.
    • Funding Proposals: Suggest potential sources and mechanisms for funding cultural restoration projects.
