On July 11 in Vilnius, Ursula von der Leyen cited Ukraine as an example of successful European integration, subject to the fulfilment of the tasks set by the European Union.
"The speed with which Ukraine is moving towards EU membership is astounding. It is a merit-based process, and the enthusiasm and intensity with which Ukraine is reforming rapidly moves it closer to EU membership," Ursula von der Leyen.
"I am sure that if they continue like this, if they keep up the pace, success will come soon. This is a great example of how you can move quickly towards EU membership if you meet the necessary requirements."
We remind you that Ukraine has successfully fulfilled 2 of the 7 conditions of the European Commission, and this is an excellent result, given the deadline for implementation — 1 year. Ukraine still has titanic reform work to do, mostly aimed at breaking Soviet traditions, overcoming corruption and chaos in the courts.
