US Delegation Arrives in Kyiv Ahead of Ramstein Meeting

A US delegation, led by Winfield Swanton, Director for Ukraine at the US National Security Council, arrived in Kyiv ahead of the upcoming Contact Group on Assistance to Ukraine meeting in Ramstein, Germany

According to the Ministry of Defense, the Kyiv meeting primarily focused on reviewing the results of US assistance to Ukraine in 2024 and planning future cooperation between the defense ministries for 2025. Ukraine's key objectives for 2025 include strengthening the Defense Forces along the front lines, enhancing the combat capabilities of military units, bolstering the defense of Ukrainian airspace, and developing the defense-industrial complex.

"Special attention was paid to further US assistance for specific types of weapons and ammunition. We also synchronized our positions regarding Ukraine's needs and America's capabilities," stated the Ministry of Defense in a press release.

Ramstein Meeting

The next Ramstein-format meeting is scheduled for Thursday, January 9, and will be attended by Pentagon Chief Lloyd Austin, marking his final Ramstein meeting of the year.

At Ramstein, discussions will not only address the needs of Ukraine's Armed Forces but also involve planning Ukraine's defense capabilities up to 2027. Additionally, media reports suggest that the US will announce a significant assistance package for Ukraine during the Ramstein meeting.
