Senators Richard Blumenthal and Lindsey Graham registered a resolution declaring that a Russian attempt to use a nuclear weapon against Ukraine, including to slow down the counter offensive, would be considered an attack on NATO.
"We believe that the nuclear weapons used in Ukraine are releasing radiation over large areas in Europe where NATO allies are located," the republican Graham told Congress.
Today, Russia is provocatively trying to deploy nuclear weapons in Belarus, and the threat of using these weapons is the biggest since the Cuban Missile Crisis.
"And our message to those around Putin is that if you do this, if you follow his order, if he ever gives it, you can expect a massive response from NATO, and you will be in a war against NATO."
Richard Blumenthal said that the use of nuclear weapons against Ukrainians and against the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant has a negative impact on the life and health of Ukrainians, as well as border countries that are members of NATO. Radiation will cripple Ukrainians and Poles. Therefore, the resolution was created not based on panic but based on facts:
"... it is based on facts and science and is designed to send a message to Vladimir Putin and his military: they will be destroyed, they will be eviscerated if they use tactical nuclear weapons or if they destroy a nuclear power plant in such a way that it will threaten close NATO countries inflicted on our NATO allies activates our commitment when it comes to a hostile power,'' Senator Richard Blumenthal.
Democrat Blumenthal called the expected result of this war: to drive the Russians out of Ukraine and restore peace. Yes, on the way to this, Russia will regularly plant provocations and blackmail. But in the end, if Russia steps over the line and moves from bluff to action, it will be eviscerated.
