On June 23, Ukraine received the status of candidate for EU membership. Ukrainian people and politicians started their way into the European community in 2014. Eight years later, Ukraine was praised for its reforms and achievements. But the question of when Ukraine will cease to be a candidate and become a full-fledged member of the EU is no less interesting.
Ukrainian politicians have common sense and can assess the situation. No one believes that a country at war will become a member in 1-2 years, even if the country wins soon. But the cabinet of ministers of Ukraine has allowed itself to take responsibility for the assumption and has named the date of accession to the European Union — in 2029. This was said by the general director of the government office for coordinating European and Euro-Atlantic integration, Natalia Forsiuk.
"Early entry into the EU is unlikely due to the huge amount of legislation that needs to be adopted and implemented. We must live according to European laws," said the politician.
The members of the European Union will meet at the first conference next year to discuss the accession of Ukraine to the association.
