On April 13, as part of providing support to Ukraine, 5 presidents planned to come to Kyiv: Alar Karis, Gitanas Nauseda, Andrzej Duda, Egils Levits, and Frank-Walter Steinmeier. However, only Estonia, Lithuania, Poland, and Latvia presidents came.
"My Polish colleague recently suggested that we, together with the presidents of Estonia, Lithuania, and Latvia, come to Kyiv to send a signal of joint European solidarity. I was ready, but, apparently, I should take into account that this was not wanted in Kyiv", Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
Such a response from Kyiv is directly justified by the close ties of the German president in the Kremlin. Yes, on April 4, Frank Steinmeier expressed his regrets about maintaining a friendly structure of relations with Russia, which, in turn, did not believe in the democratic postulates of the modern world. However, these 9 days are unlikely to have become the scalpel that cut off the metastases of Russia in the body of her old friend Steinmeier.
Against the voice of the entire democratic world, Frank-Walter Steinmeier supported the construction of Nord Stream-2. It is entirely unknown why in this, at first glance, economic and energy project, the president of Germany did not see the lever of blackmail and cruel manipulations on the part of Russia. Today, when the project has already been stopped and, as Biden promised, will never be reactivated, Frank-Walter's eyes opened.
Ukraine is still reaping the benefits of the Steinmeier formula, which was then proposed by the German, at that time, minister of foreign affairs as an ultimatum solution to the catastrophe in Russian-occupied Ukrainian Donetsk.
As a solution to one of the clauses of the Minsk agreements, this formula causes a furor in the Russian MFA and, in particular, Sergey Lavrov, with whom Steinmeier is in close contact. The problem is that a clear definition of the formula has not been fixed anywhere, so Lavrov and Russia still disfigure the terms of the Minsk treaty, manipulate the facts against Ukraine, and interpret (rape) the terms of the treaties at their own discretion. Thus, Lavrov got a tool to prolong the war against Ukraine.
As Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, a meeting with the German president is undesirable so far, but it is not ruled out in the future. In the future, when it will be obvious that Frank-Walter Steinmeier is not blinded by Putin.
