A terrible tragedy happened on the morning of January 18. The representatives of five countries and the secretary general of the Council of Europe were among the first to express their support for a country at war.
Ambassador of Israel to Ukraine Michael Brodsky, German ambassador Anka Feldhusen, British interior minister Melinda Simmons, Polish interior minister Mariusz Kaminski and head of the state fire service Andrzej Bartkowiak expressed condolences after the helicopter crash. Each speaks of an unexpected tragedy for the victims' families and each Ukrainian.
"Horrified to learn about the death of Ukraine's minister of interior Denys Monastyrsky and his deputy Yevhen Yenin. They were excellent cooperation partners and friends. My deepest condolences to the families and loved ones," wrote the head of the European Union delegation to Ukraine Matti Maasikas.
"Our hearts go out to the Brovary community and our friends and partners in the ministry of internal affairs of Ukraine," ambassador of the United States Bridget Brink on Twitter.
The president of Ukraine responded to the new tragedy. Zelenskyy instructed to find out all the circumstances and causes of the tragedy.
"I have instructed the Security Service of Ukraine, in cooperation with the National Police of Ukraine and other authorized bodies, to find out all the circumstances of what happened.
My condolences to all the families and friends of the victims!
Denys, Yevhen, Yuri, the team of the Ministry of internal affairs... true patriots of Ukraine. May they rest in peace! May all those whose lives were taken this black morning rest in peace!" wrote Zelenskyy.
As of 4:30 pm, the rescue operation is complete. 9 people were killed in the plane crash. 25 people were injured, 11 of them children. 1 child died.
The first lady of Ukraine got news about the crash in few minutes before her speech in Davos.
