President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine is ready to consider an energy ceasefire with Russia if Moscow stops striking Ukrainian energy infrastructure. He stressed that Ukraine responds to attacks and would halt retaliation against energy targets only in a reciprocal format.
Zelensky said partners have raised ideas about reducing Ukrainian strikes on Russian energy and oil facilities after a period of global energy turbulence. He emphasized that a pause is possible only if Russia stops attacks on Ukrainian energy assets.
He also said Ukraine is open to broader ceasefire formats, including a full ceasefire, energy and food security components, and an end to strikes by missiles and drones in the air, at sea, and against critical infrastructure.
The president noted that Ukraine is working on such initiatives with partners in the Middle East. He highlighted cooperation on prisoner exchanges and on returning Ukrainian children via Qatar, as well as broader contacts that allow discussion of war related issues.
