A Strong Army as the Key to Security
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) remain the most important guarantee of stability not only for Ukraine but also for all of Europe.
“If our army remains strong, all of Europe will benefit from a security perspective, because it will not be threatened by danger,” Zelensky stressed.
According to him, today Ukraine’s army numbers around 800,000 servicemen, making it one of the largest and strongest military forces in Europe.
Importance of Partner Support
The President highlighted that international partners clearly understand the need to support the Ukrainian military, as its strength directly ensures the stability of the entire European continent.
-
A strong Ukrainian army = a shield for Europe.
-
Support from Western allies remains critical to sustain Ukraine’s defense capacity.
Security Guarantees and New Defense Architecture
Zelensky also underlined the importance of launching security guarantees immediately, not waiting for the end of hostilities.
Ukraine is currently working on a new security architecture, which includes:
-
Unmanned systems as a central element of deterrence.
-
Integration with NATO standards and deeper cooperation with allies.
-
Strengthening military-industrial capabilities to ensure long-term resilience.
The Role of the United States and NATO
Zelensky stressed that Ukraine’s plan to deter Russian aggression requires U.S. support.
He also noted that the stance of U.S. President Donald Trump on Ukraine’s potential NATO membership could have a significant impact on Moscow’s behavior, as NATO accession remains one of the most powerful deterrent factors.
Conclusion
Ukraine sees its own strong army as the cornerstone of its security and that of Europe. With 800,000 troops, unmanned technologies, and NATO cooperation, Kyiv positions itself not only as a defender of its sovereignty but also as a key guarantor of European stability.
