On March 3, deputy prime minister for reconstruction, minister of community development, territories and infrastructure Alexander Kubrakov and ambassador of Japan Matsuda Kuninori signed an agreement on assistance within the Fast recovery plan. The amount of financial assistance will be $170 million. This amount will be used by Ukraine to carry out emergency procedures for the safety of the civilian population:
- Demining of territories;
- Disassembly of debris in consequence of Russian attacks;
- Rehabilitation of agriculture and infrastructure.
Recall that Japan takes an active part in helping Ukraine to confront the enemy. Tokyo provides humanitarian aid – the previous tranche was $95 million channelled through the UN development program.
The Ministry of reconstruction reports that all financial assistance will be used to improve Ukraine. The statement is confirmed by the memorandum, which the Ministry signed on March 2. According to the document, the United Nations development programme is empowered to exercise independent oversight over the use of financial assistance for housing rehabilitation.
