50th Wave of Support for Ukraine in Lithuania

On April 4, in Vilnius was held a rally in honour of the anniversary of the liberation of the Kyiv region from the occupation

On February 24, the Russian army launched a full-scale attack on Ukraine, occupying parts of Kyiv, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Through the small towns of the Kyiv region, the enemies made their way to the capital of Ukraine, which the Kremlin planned to capture in 3 days. But contrary to the expectations of the whole world, on April 2, 2022, the Armed Forces of Ukraine completely cleared the Kyiv region of the Russian invaders.

Yesterday, in Vilnius was held a peaceful rally was dedicated to the anniversary of the liberation of the capital region of Ukraine and the commemoration of those who were killed by the Russians. The rally was attended by the president of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili, the Seimas speaker of Lithuania Viktoria Chmilitie-Nilsen, the ambassador of Ukraine to Lithuania Petro Beshta, the US ambassador to Lithuania Robert Gilchrist, the ambassador of Sweden to Lithuania Inger Buxton, the mayor of Vilnius district Robertas Dukhnevich and the mayor of Irpin Oleksandr Markushin ( joined online). Lithuanian archbishop Gintaras Hrushas read a prayer for the dead and alive Ukrainians.

This is the 50th time that Lithuanians have taken to the streets to support the people of Ukraine.
