A Speech of the President to the Legislature of Ireland

On April 5, Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the Joint Houses of Oireachtas

Today the president of Ukraine had a unique opportunity to address the government of Ireland and their people.

“He called on Ireland to persuade its EU partners to toughen sanctions against Russia. As for such sanctions that will actually stop Russia's military machine. We need to stop all trade with Russia. Russian banks' ties with the world's financial system must be blocked. We need to cut off the flow of money that the Russian budget receives for oil and spends on missiles, bombs, and artillery shelling... The world has long developed appropriate mechanisms. Everyone knows what to do. The only obstacle is the lack of integrity in some leaders. Yet. Political leaders, and business leaders still think that war and war crimes are not as scary as financial losses. I am confident that Ireland's leadership can change that,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

We believe in Ukraine. Glory to Heroes!
