Anniversary of Courage of Kherson

On March 13, 2023, the inhabitants of Kherson repeated their feat by going to the square with the flags of Ukraine

In 2022, the Russian occupiers in Kherson planned to hold a referendum to annex the Kherson region. Attempt after attempt, Russian intentions were blocked thanks to the residents of Kherson, who almost daily took to the streets with Ukrainian flags and prevented referendums. The first peaceful rally against the occupation was held on March 13, 2022.

On March 13, 2023, the inhabitants of the hero city of Kherson again took to Freedom square with Ukrainian flags to celebrate the anniversary of their courage.

"More than a year ago, the invaders occupied Kherson and tried to subdue the locals. Despite the occupation by enemy troops, Kherson residents from the first days went out to rallies en masse every day and resisted. It was on March 13 that thousands of people gathered in the square and marched through the city centre with blue and yellow flags!" city military administration of Kherson.

Each rally was deadly for Ukrainians. The invaders shot and kidnapped the protesters. We remind you that it was in Kherson that the Yellow Ribbon movement was born, largely thanks to which the Armed Forces of Ukraine managed to liberate Kherson.

"All Ukraine heard from our people the unconquered: "Glory to Ukraine!" I thank all the city's inhabitants for what you did then and what you are doing now. For your perseverance and courage. For your faith in victory!" head of the Kherson city administration Roman Mrochko.

Notably, on the flags with which Ukrainians walk around Kherson today, words of support are written about teachers from different regions of Ukraine.
