Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Condemned Russia

On 18 November in Thailand, APEC adopted a joint declaration on the Russian war against Ukraine

The Guardian reported that on November 19, an important decision was made at the APEC forum. In addition to discussing international trade and investment, the members discussed the Russian invasion of Ukraine. It is impossible to ignore what is happening, as war affects the world's economy. The session thus resulted in a joint statement. The document's text is entirely consistent with the resolution that the G20 countries recently issued after the summit.

Asia-Pacific leaders have reported their adherence to international condemnation of Russia for its actions in Ukraine. In this regard, the leaders stated the highest level. The declaration is based on global economic shocks. The conflict and its aftermath were discussed for almost 2 days, with most APEC members officially criticizing the war and condemning the war.

"It (the war — ed.) causes great human suffering and exacerbates the existing problems in the world economy. There were other views and different assessments of the situation and sanctions," says the statement.

Note that representatives of China, Japan, and the USA attended the forum. They also had a voice at the G20 summit in Bali.
